1935–36 Stoke City F.C. season
The 1935–36 season was Stoke's 43rd season of league football and the 22nd in the First Division.
Overview
In the summer of 1935 former defender Bob McGrory took over as manager to end Tom Mather's eleven years in charge. McGrory decided not to make any major signings keeping faith with the current squad he had at the time but he did bring in his own back room staff in time for the start of the season.
McGrory's first season as manager turned out to be one of the finest season's in Stoke's history achieving 4th place in the First Division the highest place the club has ever been. They were never out of the top four of the table in the last three months and were regarded as one of the best teams in the country at the time.
